This has turned out to be a serious thing for many of us.
Shawn (Whyweigh) is in ICU.
Please contribute your Doc/Lab results here. We must get to the bottom of this.
I myself may have to suck it up and go to ER because I've actually gotten worse that I was. GF trying to get me to take an ice bath....I just can't.
My shivers come in waves but this afternoon I shook like a leaf for almost 2hrs nonstop...when it finally subsided I literally collapsed from exhaustion like I just ran a marathon whyweigh wrote:
Shawn barely made it back. They had to take him off the plane on a stretcher. He is in the ICU now and stable. If you are really sick go see a doctor
From:http://jamcruise.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8942 Didn't Shawn have a severe case of bronchitis before the cruise?
http://jamcruise.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8584This can develop into pneumonia. Both can be very bad when chronic.
With so many passengers, multiple pathogens are likely (inevitable?), and multiple levels of infection (some shrug it off, others get varying stages of malaise). Some only get a sniffle and don't get sick for weeks. The flu works this way, too.
Antibiotics won't help viral diseases of course.
A lot of people will get flu-like illnesses when not sleeping (or sleeping very little). I'm more immediately concerned with this burn symptom since that's visible and another friend of mine also has this. It looks to me like a chemical burn (got one of those myself in the lab once or twice)..

Antibacterial antibiotics will do nothing to help get rid of the virus, and giving antibacterial antibiotics when there is a viral cold will likely do nothing except help the bacteria in the nose and throat become resistant -- which makes the next bacterial infection much harder to treat. I never give antibiotics to someone who has only a cold, unless there seems to me to be a very good chance that he or she may develop a bacterial infection on top of the cold -- or unless there is clearly a bacterial infection already.
